This “Observing Economics” blog is an initiative of the course “History and Methodology of Economics” at the University of Amsterdam. The simple rules of the blog are:
1. Authorship is reserved to students of the course (and the lecturer).
2. Comments are open to all but are moderated.
3. Posts will include links, images, excerpts from public media (academic, journalistic, fictional) that express economic ideas or are influenced by economics.
4. Authors will refrain from passing judgment on the legitimacy of particular uses of economics. Instead, they will inquire (or speculate) on what role those ideas play for the protagonists and the authority these ideas might carry.
