“EU in tussle over CO2 emissions”

I bet the EU commission is wondering, why some countries aren’t interested in lowering their CO2 emissions. So, to get results ‘and look like they’re doing something’ the EU commission is forcing (some) countries to lower emissions (in this article they talk about Poland lowering their emissions quota by 27% and Estonia by 48%). Don’t get me wrong lowering emissions is a good thing- but there are no incentives to lower emissions.

For a government to see incentive in lowering emissions, it needs to be deemed profitable. This is, at the least, unfortunate. Without altering the current trend, building more nuclear plants (examples, Finland and Sweden), there is no push to alter the “profitability” of green energy.

When it boils down to it, adding monetary value to emissions could help, but would it be priced fairly?
